Keratea_ house by the sea
Exposed from all sides the house has eastern orientation due to the serene and breath-taking view of the sea. The design aims at creating an energy sufficient building. Construction materials, sun protection systems, planting, external thermal insulation, under floor heating, stone lining, heating and cooling systems, contribute to low energy consumption and offer great energy savings.
The heating system (under floor heating) is based on a centralized heat pump assisted by solar systems along with biomass systems (energy fireplaces). Biological wastewater treatment replaces ordinary sewerage network and helps watering the trees during the summer months.
Stone lining on the lower floor underlines the traditional character of the building and, along with its minimal design, is a representative example of contemporary Aegean architecture.
