   Geography

Attica is a historical region of Greece, one of the 13 districts. The modern administrative region of Attica is more extensive than the historical region and includes the Saronic Islands, and Cythera. Athens, the capital of Greece is situated in Attika and is the most populous in Greece. The greater Athens area was estimated to have a population of 3.762.000 people according to the 2011 census.

Climate

Attica enjoys a Mediterranean climate. It has a distinct, long, dry period in the summer and a short, wet period in the winter. The highest precipitation is experienced during the winter months. The southern part of the peninsula has a hot, semi-arid climate.

Cultural life and Entertainment

Located between mountains Penteli, Ymhttos and Parnitha, the modern city of Athens offers a lively and vibrant nightlife with a wide variety of bars, clubs and restaurants.

And let’s not forget that Athens is the city of olive trees, wine, honey and various herbs such as oregano, basil and thyme – an opportunity to taste the highly distinguished Mediterranean cuisine.
